In fall 2007, Park Place was awarded the “BOMA Go Green” designation for our commitment to environmental sustainability and our ongoing “green” initiatives.
One of those initiatives began on January 1, 2010. In a partnership with bullfrogpower, Park Place starting integrating renewable wind energy into the shopping centre using the energy generated at the Pincher Creek Wind Farm. We are now using 100% renewable wind energy in the common areas, food court and offices, which echoes our commitment to environmental sustainability and to the future of the community in which we live.
We believe that our shopping centre has an essential role in being a positive ambassador for environmental leadership which we promote through several “green” programs. Some of the other programs include a centre wide Waste Diversion Plan target of 80% by reuse and recycling, water and energy conservation using low-flow water fixtures and timed low energy lighting, continued improvement of indoor air quality through oxygen emitting foliage and use of low/no VOC paints and chemicals.
